Township Government Marches On

By: Garth J Christie, MMC

None of us has seen anything like this before. The COVID-19 virus pandemic has made a terrible impact world-wide. As I write this, the number of cases is approaching 400 thousand globally and 20 thousand in our country. The death count is approaching 50 thousand and over 600, respectively.

Here in Redford Township, we are providing services the best we can under the circumstances. Of course, the Police and Fire departments are on duty and the Water department is available for emergencies, such as water main breaks. Otherwise, most of our work force is at home and managers are holding down the fort.

As for the Township Board of Trustees, we postponed our regularly scheduled meeting for March 17th to our next regularly scheduled meeting, March 31st. This meeting will be conducted through a teleconference and, as always, the public is welcomed and encouraged to attend and participate. On March 31st you can do this by dialing 312-626-6799, then the meeting ID number 4823915145#. No additional dialing is required. The meeting will still be available on Redford TV through Facebook as usual, it will be in real time audio and screen shots only.

During this time of crisis, use common sense and stay safe. It has always been a good idea to wash our hands often and to cover a cough or sneeze. Remember President Obama demonstrating the “Dracula” method? It still works today. Maintain social distances and follow all other precautions. We don’t want to pass the virus on to a vulnerable person.
